A rich, large miniature of intergrown, lustrous bright lime green to canary-lemon yellow Pyromorphite crystals from Barstow's Cut (more commonly called Barstow’s trench) at Roughton Gill in the Caldbeck Fells, Cumbria. The Caldbeck Fells lie in the northern region of the English Lake District, a region of outstanding geology and scenery. Many famous mines are scattered across Roughton Gill Head. The well-known collector and dealer Richard “Dick” Barstow excavated the Roughton Gill South Vein a little to the west of the Mexico mine High Level around 1978, a ‘W’-shaped feature which can still be seen today; although collecting in this area is now strictly forbidden. The Pyromorphite crystals average around 3 mm and do attain 5 mm, covering a characteristic fine granular white Quartz veinstone matrix. A most attractive example of Pyromorphite from Barstow’s Trench.
