Tucson, Arizona, USAClassic waxy dark khaki green Wheatley mines Pyromorphite crystals with pale green colour-zoned tips. Rarely were specimens documented from a specific mine, hence the broad term "Wheatley mines". The Pyromorphite crystals, which exceptionally reach 1 cm in length, are scattered over a white, vughy, sugary Quartz matrix with some rusty orange coatings of Goethite. The Quartz vein material displays numerous open cavities where perhaps a primary sulphide mineral has oxidized away and in some cases the secondary mineral Pyromorphite has formed upon the surfaces of the cavities. A large display specimen from this most famous of American Pyromorphite localities. The specimen comes with an old Dr A. Krantz label from Germany.
