Schorl, the black iron iron-rich member of the Tourmaline Group, famously forms fabulous crystals at many localities throughout Namibia, a country brimming with mineralogical treasures. This most charming miniature has a double terminated jet-black prism attached to a minor matrix of colourless Quartz crystals. From Tubussis Farm 22 in the Erongo Region, the Schorl prism measures 3.3 x 1.9 x 1.9 cm, is perfectly hexagonal in cross section and has smooth prism faces with a bright glossy lustre. The terminations are shallow triclinic pyramids formed from feathered micro-terminations which form a lustrous stippled rough surface. A beautiful miniature Schorl Tourmaline from Tubussis Farm 22.
