Azurite

A superb pair of razor-sharp Azurite crystals attached to a thin veneer of microcrystalline sugary Cerussite and Dolomite. The Azurite crystals measure 4.0 x 2.6 x 1.4 cm and 4.7 x 1.9 x 1.4 cm and although slightly truncated and obscured by matrix at one end, the crystals are double terminated whereby the terminations from either end merge to form the entire crystal, without any intermediate prism faces. The semi-lustrous surfaces of the Azurite have begun the process of pseudomorphing towards Malachite, but only just, resulting in a very attractive mottled mixture of dark inky-blue, leaf and olive-greens, light grey and partially iridescent steel-blue. A fabulous Azurite of rare colour and habit from the famous Tsumeb mine.
