Tucson, Arizona, USADioptase is always a collector's favourite and is one of the iconic minerals from the Tsumeb mine in Namibia. This small miniature is exceptional and packs a punch far above its fighting weight! Equant and translucent, deep blueish emerald-green Dioptase crystals to 0.9 cm are aesthetically scattered over a sparkling surface of silvery-white 1 mm Calcite crystals and rich gemmy crystals of glassy, delicate smoky Cerussite. Much smaller Dioptase crystals of 2 to 3 mm are individually scattered over the Calcite and Cerussite surface, adding a random slash of colour to the entire specimen. The reverse side is entirely covered with a solid intergrown bed of Dioptase of equally good crystals, over which are liberally scattered micro-spherical aggregates of bluish-green, probable, Malachite. A specimen of rare beauty and a little gem for any Tsumeb collection.
