A complex large miniature of intersecting pink Elbaite Tourmaline crystals with the tallest crystal capped with a ball of opaque snow-white Quartz crystals overgrown with Hyalite. The specimen is from a recently discovered gem Tourmaline pocket found in the mining district of Coronel Murta in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The specimen sits upright on its horizontally-cleaved base and displays several Elbaite crystal sections in graded shades of bubble gum, candy, rose pink and cerise-raspberry red. The tallest Elbaite crystal is about 4 cm, but the top is masked by a roughly spherical cluster of parallel-aligned and double terminated small white Quartz crystals, each 2 to 4 mm long. They are loosely packed, but well cemented by a pervading overgrowth of Hyalite, a colourless variety of Opal which forms globular structures over the Quartz. The Hyalite has a vitreous lustre, although where it forms both colourless and golden-honey micro-spheres along the base of the specimen, it is glassy and lustrous. A fabulous Elbaite with Quartz and Hyalite from Coronel Murta, Brazil.
