Fluorite with Sphalerite and Pyrite inclusions$300.00

This cabinet specimen of Fluorite with Sphalerite and Pyrite inclusions could be from no where else but Ladywash mine close to Eyam in Derbyshire, England. Eyam is a beautiful village which should be visited if you are visiting Derbyshire and I can recommend many a nice pub or tea room! It is still known as 'the plague village' following an outbreak in 1665 when at least 270 of its 350-population died. But we collectors also love Eyam for its surrounding mines and Ladywash is its most famous. A roughly 12 x 7 cm plate of greyish yellow Fluorite crystals form an intergrown bed of cubic crystals averaging 1 to 1.5 cm on edge, all heavily included with micro-crystals of Pyrite. On top of the Fluorite are two composite crystals of back Sphalerite, the larger 2.2 x 2.0 x 1.0 cm. This specimen is accompanied with an unprovenanced old(ish) label, probably from the 1970s, with recorded yet unrecognised initials.
