Elbaite with Lepidolite Tourmaline
Unknown Owner
A beautiful composite Elbaite Tourmaline prism from Barra de Salinas in Minas Gerais in Brazil. Of translucent leaf-green graduating to a chrome with a bluish sea-green 8 mm deep cap and mirror-smooth termination. The mix of colours is exquisite and in its base the crystal can be seen to have a black (or intensely dark-green) core. Both the prism faces and pinacoid termination have a superb, glassy lustre. Attached to the prism faces are several groups of lavender Lepidolite mica forming acicular crystals and splayed fans, plus a little creamy Albite feldspar. A delightful Elbaite from the Coronel Murta district in Brazil.
