Chalcedony
A superb large cabinet specimen of wax-melt Chalcedony from the classic Cornish location of Trevascus mine in the parish of Gwinear, Cornwall. This copper and tin mine was worked until 1842, but it is for its magnificent Chalcedony specimens it is famous, these being recovered from the adit level in 1843, one year after it had closed. Excellent interlaced delicate stalactites of translucent-opaque creamy tan to orange-buff Chalcedony make-up a fine display of this most aesthetic habit. The Chalcedony has a lovely translucency and often a bubbly structure incorporated within the tentacle-like glassy fronds.
