The world famous Panasqueira mine in Portugal produces countless top notch specimens and as far as small cabinet pieces go, this is really top notch! Four well-formed, thick-set hexagonal crystals of Fluorapatite measuring to 2.2 cm of white to bluish-grey sit on a wide parallel growth of bladed crystals of lustrous black Ferberite. The top surface around where the Fluorapatite crystals sit is coated with intergrown disc-like micro-crystals of light brown Siderite. The reverse side is stunning in its own right, as simply a splendid plate of parallel flat Ferberite blades with a brilliant black metallic lustre. A delightful specimen from Panasqueira.
