This is an exceptionally fine Cornish Fluorite from one of the county's most well known lead mines, namely Wheal Mary Ann, Menheniot. The lustrous yellowish Fluorite forms a large cube measuring 6.7 cm on edge. The crystal, although incomplete, is well formed with smaller intergrown crystals protruding from the sides. The main crystal is partly overgrown on two faces by gemmy, colourless to white bipyramidal crystals of Quartz, and creamy intergrown Calcite crystals. Areas of biscuit-coloured Siderite crystals are also lightly scattered over the faces of the Fluorite. The main faces and upper edges of the Fluorite are in great condition, with only the slightest of microscopic chipping. An old-timer, accompanied with one more recent collectors label and Roughgems dealer label which does not identify the locality.
