After the famous Chessy mine, in France, the location that most collectors think of for exceptional Azurite crystals is Tsumeb mine in Namibia. This fine miniature specimen is from Tsumeb and shows how wonderfully crystallized specimens can be. It comprises one large, matrix-less prismatic crystal, reaching 4.4 cm in length with a smaller prismatic crystal growing across it at an angle towards its base. The Azurite crystals are a very lustrous dark royal blue but some internal reflections produce a much paler blue colour in places. The main crystal displays striated faces, and an excellent pinacoid termination. There is a tiny abrasion on one side of the termination, but it is not obvious, and a small gap on the upper part of one prism face where the crystal was formerly attached to another. Despite these, this is a really fine. large, Tsumeb mine Azurite crystal that presents extremely well.
