Tucson, Arizona, USAThis specimen is a great example of how aesthetic Malachite pseudomorphing after Azurite can be at the Tsumeb mine. This very fine combination of bright, glassy, deep Royal blue Azurite crystals with Malachite pseudomorphs is probably from the 1st Oxidation Zone. The Azurite crystals are between about 0.5 and 1.0 cm long and are richly scattered over the surface of a hard, iron-stained Dolomite matrix. The sharp Malachite pseudomorphs occur over a 5 x 4 cm area and show beautiful silky growth patterns. A choice specimen and especially good under low magnification.
