Chalcocite
Unknown Owner
An aesthetic and very rich specimen of intergrown Chalcocite crystals with a high metallic lustre from the classic Cook's Kitchen mine at Pool (often referred to as Illogan), mid-way between the towns of Camborne and Redruth. Cook's Kitchen was a rich producer of tin, copper and arsenic throughout almost the entire nineteenth century. The Chalcocite crystals are of a habit resembling a pagoda with alternate levels of alternating widths and measure to about 5 mm long. A great miniature Chalcocite from this most historic of Cornish mines.
