Wire transfers available, to set up
A limestone quarry close to Bergheim in Alsace, France, has produced a limited yet choice suite of mineral specimens but remains a little known locality. This good sized cabinet specimen is a complex assemblage of lilac-tinted Fluorite crystals which line open vugs and cover ribs traversing matrix of mid-grey limestone. The Fluorite forms cubic crystals of typically 5 mm on edge which have frosted faces giving a translucent to semi-transparent quality. The Fluorite is pale lilac but this intensifies towards the edges and corners. Th Baryte forms thin tabular blades of up to almost 2 cm across and are an opaque whiteish-creamy tinged yellow-tan. A lovely Fluorite form Alsace.
