Two highly flattened Elbaite Tourmaline crystals are developed in parallel growth and melded along their common centreline to join as one near complete prism on the back surface. From the Coronel Murta pegmatites in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, Elbaite forms limey nickel green prisms with deeply striated faces and pointed, spear like terminations. The crystals are transparent grading to gemmy and are included with multi-layered horizontal wispy inclusions. The common base of the group begins as watermelon Tourmaline, with a cranberry red centre surrounded by a rich rhubarb green rind. Smaller Elbaite prisms are attached around the base and from these emerges a beautiful colourless and gemmy Quartz crystal, projecting out by some 2.8 cm. A striking Elbaite Tourmaline with Quartz from Coronel Murta and mounted vertically on a bevelled clear acrylic base.
