A spectacular flat plate of lustrous glassy Quartz crystals of the variety Eisenkiesel, partly coated and included with Hematite. The intensity and depth of colour gives almost the appearance of smoky Quartz, but in transmitted light the semi-translucent crystals do convey a patchwork of deep brick-red, finely disseminated Hematite. The Quartz is probably quite smoky, so contributing to its deep colour. A choice specimen of very dark Eisenkiesel from the W'lsendorf Fluorite mining district in Bavaria.
