Fluorapatite
An impressive, double terminated hexagonal Fluorapatite crystal from the old iron ore mine at Malmberget in Sweden. The mine began operations in 1741 and operations continue to this day. The Fluorapatite is opaque with a thin translucent outer shell and is a bluish-tinted sea green interrupted by vertical veils and swirls of greenish cream. Part of the prism and part of one termination are missing because of restricted accommodation space while in situ, hence full development of the crystal was impaired. However, the majority of the crystal is perfect and intact, Fluorapatite crystals such as this are reasonably uncommon and together with its unusual colour makes it truly a very rare specimen. The Fluorapatite is accompanied with an old label.
