This quite unusual Quartz specimen is from the famous mining region of Krásno, Horní Slavkov (Schlaggenwald) Karlovy Vary Region, Bohemia, Czech Republic. Cabinet in size, two main features draw the eye: a) the orange-red colour, as Eisenkiesel, an iron oxide-included variety of Quartz; b) the shape, as a peculiar almost triangular-shaped carbuncle on top of a narrow base of similar Quartz. The orange-red colour is only prevalent in the uppermost layer of Quartz crystals with Milky Quartz dominating the back of the specimen. There is a small area of damage to four or five of the crystals on the lower side of the 'triangular' mass of Quartz crystals, but this is not too obvious. An unusual Horní Slavkov Quartz specimen. Ex Hans Englebrecht collection.
