There is no other way of describing this combination of Fluorite on Quartz from Huanggang mine (Shaft 4), Hexigten Banner, Inner Mongolia other than unique. From a discovery made in 2014, the rich indigo blue to light blue complex crystals of Fluorite on large white Quartz crystals really do stand out as something totally different. Abundant intergrown crystals of Fluorite, measuring to 1.6 cm across, have formed on well-developed prismatic crystals of Quartz. The lustrous Fluorite crystals show an excellent hoppered habit on their cubic faces, with complex combinations of dodecahedral and octahedral faces, giving the edges a rounded appearance. Contrasting white crystals of Quartz measuring to 8 cm tall show several phases of deposition and form an attractive bed. Where one or two of these Quartz crystals are fractured their internal smoky colour can be seen - the milky outer layer forming a thick cap. This is a very fine cabinet sized display specimen of this uncommon deep inky-blue colour of Fluorite from this limited find. It naturally sits very well for display.
