Rhodochrosite
Unknown Owner
The Capillitas mine and mining district in the Andalgal' Department of Argentina is well known for its many forms of Rhodochrosite and this is a most interesting specimen. The Rhodochrosite forms a straight, flesh-pink coloured stalactite with a rounded tip coated in a crust of fine bladed crystals, often liked to a finger! The lower half of the outer surface is coated in a light grey powdery mineral and the detached end reveals beautiful strawberry-pink concentric banding. A great specimen of Rhodochrosite from the Capillitas mine.
