This excellent intergrown array of radial fans of pistachio green Epidote from the Pampa Blanca District in Peru makes a superb small cabinet display specimen. The Epidote crystals form compact bladed fans measuring up to 3.7 cm across with small clove-brown crystals of Axinite to around 1 to 3 mm, mostly concentrated on one edge and the underside of the specimen. Due to the acicular structure of the Epidote, its varying translucency and the interaction of transmitted and reflected light, the colour varies enormously between deep olive and light pistachio green with an overall texture of velvet. A really lovely Epidote crystallized in a very different form to the more blocky habit were are accustomed to elsewhere in the world.
