Tucson, Arizona, USATsumeb mine is world famous for many mineral species, but especially Cerussite. The mine has produced many fine 'snowflake' twinned Cerussite crystals, some delicate, others more 'chunky'. This lovely miniature specimen falls into the latter category with intricate twinning towards its base and more robust thick Cerussite crystals at the terminations. Two of the thicker crystals contain dark brown inclusions probably from iron, or manganese oxides which are also seen around the base of the specimen. The outer edges of the Cerussite crystals are well-formed and generally undamaged, with sharp, smooth crystal faces, despite being a relatively soft mineral. The rear has a naturally slightly pitted appearance where inclusions of matrix have been incorporated into the Cerussite crystal, whilst the front is much more lustrous, with a fine glassy, to slightly resinous lustre. A very nice twinned Tsumeb Cerussite in great condition and of a good size. From John Schneider's famous Tsumeb collection.
