This excellent, weighty cabinet specimen of well crystallised cubic Pyrite is from Wheal Jane, a mine whose origins are known to date long before 1740 but was famously reopened from the early 1970s through to 1991 when the pumps were finally switched off. Pyrite occurred throughout the mine, but good specimens like this are infrequently seen and this a beautiful and, importantly, stable example. The cubic crystals attain at least 3.5 cm and form as complex, intricately stepped intergrown cubes of rich metallic brassy gold with a bright metallic lustre. This lovely specimen comes with two labels.
