This small miniature specimen displays a prominent 1.7 cm long Dioptase crystal on Calcite. The Dioptase crystal is a textbook well-formed prism with rhombohedral faces, but is slightly different in having grown over and encapsulated dendritic growths of Calcite. These can be seen internally within the emerald green transparent Dioptase crystal, but at the surface have had the effect of producing dull, paler green surfaces, rather than deep emerald green, glassy surfaces. This might not be to some collectors' tastes, but is quite different and full of character. The specimen is mounted on an acrylic base for display. A fine Tsumeb miniature from John Schneider's famous collection.
