A good sized cabinet specimen with its display face richly coated with Harmotome crystals from the mines just north of Strontian by Loch Sunart in the North West Highlands of Scotland. Harmotome is one of the rarer members of the zeolite group. The lustrous opaque milky-white Harmotome crystals range from sub-mm to about 0.9 cm across and completely mask the underlying white and orange-brown Calcite matrix. The entire specimen fluoresces various shades of red, white and pale yellow in LWUV and large patches of the matrix are deep-red in SWUV. A splendid specimen all round.
