Fluorite with Galena and Sphalerite
Unknown Owner
A fine gemmy, colourless Fluorite crystal beautifully displaying cubic and dodecahedral faces and measuring overall to 3.3 cm, with two much smaller intergrown crystals attached at one side. The Fluorite crystals have formed on bright crystalline, metallic silvery-grey Galena and black Sphalerite with some metallic yellow Pyrite, from Naica in Mexico. The specimen is most probably from the Naica mine itself, although the specific mine has not been recorded with the specimen. The large Fluorite crystal really is a very fine example and would look amazing displayed next to an antique crystal model of the same class and system. Although colourless, the Fluorite does adopt a slight hint of lilac, maybe because of reflected light from the surface of the Galena.
