Pagoda-like stacked nail-head Calcite crystals and beautifully developed Sphalerite crystals are piled-up over a bed of colourless transparent acicular Quartz crystals from the Trep?a Complex in Kosovska Mitrovica, Kosovo. Underlaying this fine cabinet specimen is a 1 to 2 cm thick plate of mixed cryptocrystalline Quartz and Sphalerite matrix. The Sphalerite forms excellent crystals to 2 cm long, all with well-defined faces and sharp edges. Scattered throughout are small, tarnished Chalcopyrite crystals which add tiny patches of iridescent peacock gold, blue and pink. Under LWUV the Calcite fluoresces peachy orange gradually strengthening to the orange red of hot embers. A terrific Calcite with Sphalerite and Quartz from Trep?a.
