This is a world-class miniature of Catapleiite with Richterite from the world-famous Poudrette Quarry at Mont Saint-Hilaire in Qu'bec, Canada. Catapleiite is a sodium-zirconium silicate and Richterite a sodium-calcium-manganese silicate. In this magnificent specimen platy, light silvery cream hexagonal Catapleiite crystals form as stacked books against each other in a parallel stepped habit with individual crystals measuring to almost 2.5 cm across. Associated with these and mainly orientated vertically against the Catapleiite are lustrous black prismatic acicular crystals of Richterite up to about 2.3 cm tall. The specimen comes attached to an acrylic base. Mont Saint-Hilaire is rightly considered as one of the top ten mineral localities in the world and this wonderful miniature could not be a nicer example of these associated species.
