This miniature Pyromorphite on gossany veinstone Quartz is from Roughton Gill at the head of Dale Beck Valley in the English Lake District's Caldbeck Fells. This is one of the premier mineralised regions of the British Isles containing a large suite of wonderful specimen material. One to 2 mm rounded Pyromorphite crystals richly cover most of the top surface of a creamy-buttermilk vuggy Quartz matrix. The Pyromorphite exhibits a range of subtle colour variations ranging from overall acidic lime-green to patches of apple-green and acidic-lemon. A good example of Pyromorphite from this classic locality where collecting is now illegal.
