Malachite
Geufron mine at Llanidloes in Powys, Wales, lies slightly SE of Snowdonia National Park and worked part of the Van lode. The Malachite forms a hillocky thick crust of small mounds and ribbons with a velvety texture of predominantly light peppermint-green to occasional mid-leaf green. The Malachite contrasts nicely against the slatey dark grey matrix with a rusty ochre-brown limonitic crust. A nice specimen from a seldom seen Welsh location, collected in May 1974.
