The Wölsendorf Fluorite Mining District, as one might expect, has produced a wealth of Fluorite specimens and in a wide range of colours, but green varieties are the rarest and most sought after. This small cabinet specimen is a beautiful example of the pale lime-green variety. Consisting of a solid vein of Fluorite, the upper surface is formed completely of small interlocking cubic crystals in a complex stepped arrangement. The crystal faces are glassy and reflect the light in waves due to the alignment of the stepped crystal faces, but it is the red and black internal inclusions within the crystals which really catch your eye, highlighting the complexity of the crystal surface. This is a really fine specimen, in immaculate condition, and with an ability to draw you into studying it in more detail. Simply wonderful.
