Bindheimite ps. after Bournonite with Malachite
This specimen might be described as an ugly brute (!), but a rather beautiful ugly brute!!! Mottled lime green, mustard-yellow and rusty-brown pseudomorphed crystals of Bindheimite after Bournonite, occur as large, rather chunky, blocky crystals to 3 cm long and some to 2.5 cm wide, and all very clearly displaying deep furrows around the prism faces forming a new generation of 'cog-wheel ore'. This specimen is from the Felixbau mine at H'ttenberg in Carinthia, Austria. Bindheimite is a lead-antimony oxide and the more this specimen is examined the more fascinating and amazing it becomes!
