This large individual cubic Fluorite crystal from the famous Clara Mine in Oberwolfach, Black Forest, Baden-Württemberg, Germany has a wonderful appearance, almost like ice. Colourless, but frosted, the crystal reaches almost 7 cm on edge and displays 3 main edges, being a triangular wedge. The back, looks like a cleavage plane, but closer inspection suggests that it has been recrystallized as a 'floater' with tiny Fluorite crystals covering this surface. Internally, the frosting in not too intense, providing a certain translucency and picking out the cleavage planes throughout its structure. The main corner has some impact damage as does one of the edges, but this is a very sizable and extremely presentable Clara mine Fluorite.
