Bornite
Unknown Owner
An excellent cabinet specimen whose top surface is entirely covered with lustrous, dark blue tinted Bornite crystals exhibiting areas of rich metallic peacock blue iridescence, especially across one end and over the specimen's base. Individual crystals measure to 2 mm and are finely inter-grown forming a drusy undulating surface which displays really well! This fine specimen is from the famous Carn Brea mine, situated on the north western slopes of Carn Brea, an elongated granite boss just east of Camborne and adjacent to the much larger Dolcoath mine. Bornite is an iconic species from Carn Brea and this example is likely from the upper levels of the mine.
