A slab of brassy golden Chalcopyrite whose purple iridescent upper surface is coated in pale pinkish tan, drusy Dolomite; small, pale asparagus-buff, elongated Baryte crystals and occasional stacks of tiny yet well crystallised cubic Pyrite. Several areas on the Chalcopyrite display rich peacock mauve iridescence. From Mount Wellington mine at Cusgarne in Gwennap, Cornwall, England, specimens such as this are very similar to those collected at nearby Ale and Cakes mine in the early nineteenth century. It’s a good and fascinating cabinet specimen from Mount Wellington mine, which sadly closed in 1978. The specimen is accompanied with a detailed collector’s label.
