Iron METEORITE

A 596.3 gram fragment of the famous Gibeon meteorite, a Fine Octahedrite meteorite from Brukkaros, Gibeon, Namibia. The Meteorite displays a classic outer shell of rusty brown iron-oxide and has been cut and polished on one surface to reveal its solid metal interior. It is classified as a Group IV A, iron, fine octahedrite containing the elements Fe, Ni, Co, P, Ir, Ga and Ge. Gibeon was a prehistoric fall and specimens were first found in 1836 by Captain J. E. Alexander who sent them to London for analysis. This is a great meteorite specimen from one of the largest finds ever documented for specimen material.
