Siderite
This terrific miniature Siderite from the Tsumeb mine in Namibia is an excellent example of a quite seldom seen species from this mine. Although Siderite occurred at all levels throughout the mine and was classed as common, crystallised specimen-grade material was always rare. This lovely specimen is thought to be from the 2nd Oxidation Zone, because of its translucent golden yellow modified rhombohedral crystals richly distributed over a mixed granular Chalcocite / Tennantite ore. If you have been looking for a Siderite for your Tsumeb collection, this is a good one to fill that gap.
