Fluor-Buergerite
Unknown Owner
Fluor-buergerite is one of the lesser known members of the Tourmaline Group and this lovely miniature is from its type locality in the Mexquitic de Carmona Municipality in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. As far as I know, good crystals of this species have not be found at any other location. The Fluor-buergerite forms small, yet perfect, dark chocolate brown crystals with a glassy bright lustre and containing tiny golden flecks within the crystal structure. Another characteristic feature is that individual crystals line-up to form staggered, parallel crystal groups and these in turn radiating away from a common central point on the light grey fine grained matrix. The matrix looks like a rhyolite, but please don’t take this as gospel! \n
