A splendid small cabinet specimen of Siderite from Tincroft mine in Illogan, a parish between the towns of Camborne to the west and Redruth to the east. Bright, translucent, smoky light yellow-brown Siderite crystals are sharply formed on a Quartz-Hematite matrix. Individual Siderite crystals measure to around 3 mm, displaying rhombic triangular faces. Siderite from the old Tincroft mine is without doubt a Cornish classic and this is a fine and representative example.
