Crystal ClassicsFeatured
Tucson, Arizona, USAA rather gorgeous tabular-like Beryl crystal of the variety Heliodor from the historic and famous Murzinka mine in Sverdlovskaya Oblast, Russia. Located in the Ural Mountains, this mine worked a granite gem pegmatite. The hexagonal crystal has developed such that two opposite prism faces are much broader relative to its other four faces, forming a tabular squat crystal. Almost ice-clear throughout, the Beryl is a delicate yet zingy apple-green with a flat termination, roughened by natural etching and stained brown-buff. The specimen is mounted on a domed wooden base and comes with an old handwritten label. A beautiful addition to any gem, Russian or species collection.
