A rich cluster of gunmetal grey Chalcocite crystals wraps itself across the top and down one side of an iron stained Quartz veinstone matrix from Geevor mine at Pendeen near to St. Just in Cornwall. The Chalcocite forms a variety of crystal habits, the most noticeable being pseudohexagonal crystals to about 9 mm diameter. The lustre ranges from a slightly sooty semi-matt to reasonably bright metallic. Several stubby Quartz crystals to 1.5 cm long form on (especially under) the specimen, all coated in a film of fine granular earthy brick red Hematite. A very good miniature Chalcocite with Quartz from Geevor mine.
