Description
An approximately 10 x 8 cm plate of iron-stained Quartz-rich gossan matrix is sparingly coated with lustrous peppermint green flat sprays of acicular Aurichalcite from Greystone quarry at Lezant, Cornwall, England. This cabinet specimen comes with an R.W. Barstow white label, indicating it was in his personal collection. It reads 'From a narrow vein close to the contact of the greenstone & Killas. Southwest end of Greystone Quarry, Lezant, Cornwall'. It was collected by Dick Barstow in August 1981. Greenstone is a Cornish mining term for varieties of quartz-porphyry and Killas, describing metamorphic rocks of sedimentary origin.
