Pyromorphite
An orangey-biscuit-tan limonitic matrix is encrusted on almost all surfaces with lustrous hexagonal prisms of intense moderate leaf green Pyromorphite. From the Perkiomen Mines at Audubon in Pennsylvania, USA, the prisms range in width from 1 to 3 mm and are typically 3 to 5 mm long. Interestingly, this lush green colour is an outer rind of Pyromorphite, the core being Pyromorphite crystals of a very deep olive green, almost black. A most attractive Pyromorphite from the Perkiomen Mines and one worthy of close microscopic examination.
