Cerussite
Unknown Owner
Lustrous, creamy twinned Cerussite crystals measuring to 1.2 cm are concentrated in two areas on a dark metallic sooty black Galena display face with patches of pale tan intergrown Siderite crystals. This small cabinet specimen is from the Lill mine within the Cernojamské Deposit at Príbram in the Czech Republic, a mine which began operations around 1855. In at least one group the V-twinned Cerussite crystals form a cyclic cluster of three pairs and looking at this from end-on forms a perfectly symmetrical stellate sixling. The Galena crystals are naturally etched with deep pitting over the crystallised faces, forming the perfect foil to the pale Cerussite and Siderite crystals.\n
