Well formed crystals of Calcite on Quartz from the Levant Mine, Pendeen. Pseudohexagonal tabular crystals of Calcite measuring to 1cm are richly inter grown on a single Quartz crystal. The Calcite crystals have central coloured area of light red surrounded by translucent white. Although the Calcite is not formed directly on the Quartz, a thin zone of Goethite/Quartz has covered the Quartz crystal. A characteristic Calcite from the mine
