Hyalophane
Hyalophane is the glassy transparent variety of Microcline Feldspar and this beautiful example is from the Zagradski Potok mine in Zagradski Creek, Bosnia and Herzegovina, a locality famous for its superb Hyalophane. This ex-matrix specimen is a part large single crystal, cleaved across its back with a milky white translucent back and mainly semi-transparent to transparent prism faces and a broad chisel-shaped termination. The wedge-shaped termination is mirror smooth and glassy while the front display face is vertically striated. The crystal is mainly colourless although is subtly tinted delicate creamy-lemon.
