A splendid, rich pinkish-red miniature of Rhodochrosite from the celebrated N'Chwaning Mines at Kuruman in the Kalahari Manganese Field of Northern Cape Province, South Africa. The Rhodochrosite displays interlocking rhombic crystals which form a low relief, botryoidal display face. Its attractive translucent deep pinkish-red colour is accompanied by an aesthetic, slightly chatoyant lustre. The black manganese oxide matrix is probably Pyrolusite, judging from its somewhat radial-platy and botryoidal appearance. A delightful specimen of Rhodochrosite from N'Chwaning.
