Pyromorphite is always a pleasing mineral and this mouth-watering tower of acidic siskin-green crystals, occasionally tinged delicate burnt orange, is no exception. From the area around Zschopau, in the Erzgebirgskreis district of Saxony, Germany, parallel-aligned Pyromorphite crystals form a 3.5 x 1.7 x 1.7 cm stack with some part-hollow crystals nesting smaller crystals to form an intricate structure with part-hopper terminations. A tremendous Pyromorphite from Saxony mounted on a transparent, colourless acrylic base.
