Description
Andorite is a rare silver-lead-antimony sulphosalt and this large cabinet specimen is from the San Germ'n mine at Cerro de Potos' in Bolivia. If being pedantic, Andorite is now divided into two species named Andorite IV and Andorite VI, but for most collectors this is one of those points where a line has to be drawn and Andorite is more than good enough for us. Micro crystals of from under one millimetre and, rarely, up to about 3 mm line numerous vugs in a large and heavy sulphide-rich Quartz matrix. The largest coverage of Andorite crystals fill a 6.0 x 0.8 cm linear vug.
Known provenanceKnowing where your specimen comes from and who owned it adds to its story and value. Good provenance helps prove it's authentic and preserves important details about its discovery.
